In Transit with the Global Flow
Opening August, 20th

Traveling is no longer something special – it is almost dispensable: Because today we live in a world in which you no longer have to be global in order to experience globality. Through circulation, or the “Global Flow”, different influences in culture and taste have been omnipresent by now. And therefore cities become a culinary experience: A good Italian here, a Thai take-away there and in between international delicacies or even local concepts just like “Unverpackt”.

The trend clearly points to an opposition to the ever-accelerating globalization – towards slowing down and regional awareness.

This story carries on from this kind of transformation. Analogously it is a road that connects regions and traditions and conveys goods and information. In our case, it connects the transit zone of the district 4058 in Basel, which is very vibrant and international. It offers people a stopover on their "journey and transit" – from work to their home or to lingering with friends. The appropriate room concept adheres to the idea of sustainability and staging of an existing tradition: The interior is a hand picked selection of Mid-Century furniture, which partially are refurbished. Beautiful materials and fabrics testify to a once noble design, which contributes significantly to the cozy atmosphere.
A bright olive green on the walls suggests the Mediterranean origin, a gentle play of light completes the impression of an Italian Grandezza and the Modern Tradition. Clean lines and simple classic shapes complete the inviting ambience. Different stylistic periods form a suspense that represents global influence: English dining tables are standing therefore beside Danish Easy Chairs together with illustrious ceiling lamps from Italy.
